Big Pokemon 30th Anniversary TCG News Dropping June 1

May 29, 2026  ·  What's confirmed — and what's still a rumor

The official announcement

The Pokémon Company Japan has confirmed that the latest information on Pokémon Card Game 30th Anniversary products will be revealed in a video on the official Pokémon YouTube channel on June 1, 2026 at 22:00 JST (that's 9:00 AM ET / 6:00 AM PT). The announcement appeared on the official Japanese TCG site, pokemon-card.com, alongside teaser artwork of Mew and Mewtwo — two Pokémon already confirmed to be part of the set's brand-new rarity tier.

What's already confirmed

Quite a bit has been officially locked in since the set was announced in early April 2026. Here's what we know for certain about 30th Celebration:

Officially confirmed ✓

  • 6 cards per booster pack (up from the standard 5) — every card is foil

  • Japan launch: Wednesday, September 16, 2026

  • Global simultaneous release expected — the first ever for a Pokémon TCG set

  • A brand-new card rarity debuts, featuring Pikachu, Mewtwo & Mew with an opalescent finish

  • Confirmed reprints include Pikachu & Zekrom GX, Lugia (Aquapolis), and Solgaleo GX

Fact-checking the social media claims

A post going around on X made some specific claims about the set. Here's how they hold up:

Verified ✓

  • 6 cards per pack, all holo — True. Confirmed by PokeBeach and multiple reliable sources.

  • Global release around September 16 — Partially true. Japan is Sep 16; international is expected simultaneously, but an exact English date isn't officially confirmed yet.

  • 1 Pikachu card guaranteed in every pack — one of 30 different Pikachu cards

The June 1 video is where we'll likely get the set preview and confirmed pack structure. Until then, hold off making buy decisions based on those Pikachu claims specifically. Releasing alongside the set on the same day will be a "30th Celebration Premium Deck Set Espeon & Umbreon." No further details are known at this time (per Pokebeach), but the Espeon and Umbreon are implied to feature the new card rarity.

Why this matters for collectors

The Pokémon TCG launched in October 1996 in Japan. Thirty years on, 30th Celebration is shaping up to be the most ambitious anniversary release the game has ever put out. All-foil packs, a new rarity tier, classic reprints spanning three decades, more Pikachu, and the first-ever simultaneous worldwide launch — something the whole world will celebrate together.

If you're thinking about buying sealed product ahead of September, watch the June 1 reveal first. Prepare your wallets!
